Danielle Evin
Win a copy of Danielle Evin’s Debut CD! Details below.
“Writing songs helps me articulate what’s going on inside my head,” says Danielle Evin. “I communicate better in my songs than at a dinner party. It’s like having a sixth sense somehow.”
This sixth sense is especially well honed. Her self-titled 2006 debut album is a diverse and [tag]melodic[/tag] collection of tracks drawing on the obvious influences of the best singer songwriters of the past several decades.
Hailing from both coasts, Evin mixes New York class with Los Angeles style. Her album, produced by Grammy winner Jack Douglas (John Lennon, The Who, Aerosmith) and mixed by fellow Grammy winner Michael H. Hrauer (Coldplay, Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan), is a [tag]smart[/tag] and [tag]sassy[/tag] emotional trip through several genres. Danielle’s voice is expressive and unwavering on songs that span the musical landscapes of U2-inspired atmospheric rock, alt-country, R&B and even dollops of funky jazz.
The disc focuses on Danielle’s talents as a vocalist, guitarist, and pianist. It also features critically acclaimed vocal/violinist Tracy Bonham.
Upon entering the recording studio, she says, “I was looking to do something that felt like an honest document of my life. I think that’s what every song is, a document of what you’ve seen or heard. Every song is a piece of me.”
Danielle is currently recording her upcoming sophomore release (Fall 2007) with thirty-nine time Grammy nominee and thirteen-time Grammy winning producer, Phil Ramone (Billy Joel, Elton John, Aretha Franklin, Bob Dylan).
[tag]Danielle Evin[/tag] has put out probably the strongest debut record this year. She’s a fantastic [tag]songwriter[/tag] with a subtle delivery that is at times goose-bump inducing. “You Don’t Live Here Anymore,” “Crush,” “What I’d Give,” and “Love is Criminal” are the standout tracks on this amazing disc. Fans of [tag]Sarah McLachlan[/tag], or [tag]Jewel[/tag] can graduate to an even better performer, who displays an ability to dabble in multiple styles without sounding insincere.
